About the WWII German Staff Car:
The use of military staff cars began during the First World War. Before the invention of the automobile (and the radio), commanders had to remain close to the front when directing troops. The invention of the automobile allowed military leaders to visit the front at their leisure, reducing the risk of harm.
Many German staff cars were custom-built for a specific person. The German companies Mercedes and Horch were often the choice of officials within the Third Reich. The cost of the vehicle was often associated with the importance of the person. Several custom staff cars were armored and contained secret compartments for weapons. The 1939 Horch 930v V8 model was one example of a staff car used by German officials during the war. The total destruction of the German cities in 1945 means that very few of these vehicles still survive today, thus making them extremely valuable to collectors.
