Roman chariots were sometimes used by the military, however, the real use of chariots in ancient Rome was for racing. Several chariots would compete in a single race, normally consisting of seven laps at the Circus Maximus – an ancient Roman chariot-racing stadium and mass entertainment venue in Rome, Italy.
