Designed to be Germany's tanks for fighting other tanks, the Panzer III saw it's successful battlefield debut during the invasion of Poland. It proved to be a reliable and winning design and was continually upgraded and refined throughout the war. Along with it's offspring (such as the Sturmgeschutz III) it saw service throughout the war and is considered one of Germany's most successful tank designs of World War II. Ausf (version) L was one of the later models of Panzer III and had extra armor and a more powerful 5cm gun for anti-tank role. This model can be configured to standard 5cm KwK 38 L/42 or the longer "Special" KwK 39 L/60 gun.
