About the Ordnance QF Six Pounder - 57mm Anti-Tank Gun
The 6-pounder anti-tank gun first appeared on the battlefield in May 1942 during the North African Campaign. Shortly thereafter, the 6-pounders earned headlines during the Second Battle of Alamein, when fewer than 20 guns faced elements of four Axis armored divisions and destroyed almost 60 Axis armored vehicles. The success of the anti-tank gun had only just begun, however, and it would remain in service long after the Second World War.
The 6-pounder quickly became the primary anti-tank gun of British and American forces (as the 57mm M1). Crewed by six men protected by an armored shield, the gun was mounted on a two-wheeled carriage, enjoyed a wide 90-degree traverse, and could fire armor-piercing and high-explosive shells.
Tow your 6 Pounder 57mm Anti-Tank gun in style behind a Brickmania Universal Carrier, M3A1 Half Track, or (if you’re feeling daring) WWII Jeep!
