About the Onager – Torsion-Powered Weapon:

Used from the 4th century AD until the 6th century AD, the onager was a single-armed torsion engine capable of firing both rocks and arrow-shaped missiles. Used against the Goths at Adrianople in 378, the onager required eight men to wind down its massive arm and launch the terrifying stone projectile. Though it did not cause any casualties, the onager’s capabilities were incredibly frightening to the Goths.
