About the Modern Israeli Soldier

A largely conscript force, the small Israeli Defense Force (IDF) is one of the most advanced armies in the world. Most Israeli young women and men are required to serve in the IDF for varying lengths of time. The IDF is outfitted with several highly advanced pieces of military hardware, including the Merkava MK4 tank and the Heron TP unmanned aerial vehicle.
