About the M3 Stuart "Honey" - Light Tank:
In November 1941 the M3 Stuart first saw combat with British forces in North Africa. Though found to be under-gunned, the British were so pleased with its mechanical performance they nicknamed the tank “Honey.” Compact and highly maneuverable, the M3 excelled in an infantry support role – particularly in SE Asia as it could navigate dense jungle terrain. In North Africa, Stuarts were utilized for rearguard, flanking, and reconnaissance formations around main armor units. This was due mainly to the fact that, despite their ineffectiveness against more modern German armor, the Stuart was fast and could cover some serious ground given proper external fuel storage. This made the Stuart an effective asset while attempting to counter Axis infantry and other scouting forces across the vast expanses of land during the WWII campaign in North Africa.
