About the JSDF Type 10 – Hitomuro Main Battle Tank:

Prioritizing advanced technology, mobility, and firepower, the Japanese Type 10 is one of the world’s most advanced main battle tanks. Designed by Mitsubishi, the tank is a significant upgrade from its predecessors, such as the Type 74 and Type 90, particularly in terms of overall weight and command and control capabilities. The Type 10 entered service with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) in 2012.

The Type 10 boasts advanced fire control systems that feature a laser rangefinder and a tracking system that keep the tank accurate when on the move. The tank couples this accuracy with firepower, mounting a 120mm smoothbore gun, with an autoloader that enables quick firing. In addition, the heavy weight of the Type 10’s predecessor limited it to particular combat areas and terrains, but the Type 10’s light-weight design allows it to be deployed anywhere it is needed. The Type 10 moves quickly as well, capable of almost 45mph, and it carries advanced armor and Type 72 and M2 Browning machine guns. With the Type 10, Japan fields one of today’s most cutting-edge main battle tanks.
