About the HUMVEE® M998 –  Cargo/Troop Carrier:

The HUMVEE, or High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) family, emerged in the early 1980s to serve in a variety of roles for the U.S. military, including troop transport, reconnaissance, and logistical support. A versatile workhorse known for its off-road capabilities, mobility, and durability, the HUMVEE became one of the most iconic military vehicles.

With independent suspension and large, rugged tires, the HUMVEE can navigate mud, snow, and sand, and the vehicle’s lightweight, modular design makes it adaptable for various missions with different armor, weapons, and equipment configurations. The M998 version is a troop carrier, capable of carrying up to 10 soldiers and their equipment. It features a 4x4 drivetrain, ensuring that it remains mobile, and a 6.2L V8 diesel engine, giving it speed on both paved roads and challenging terrain. Bullet-resistant glass and a reinforced frame offer protection in combat zones. After serving in conflicts such as the Gulf War, Iraq War, and Afghanistan War, it gradually has been replaced by newer vehicles like the JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle). Nevertheless, the M998 remains a symbol of modern militaries, and its legacy continues to influence the design of military vehicles used today.
