About the HUMVEE® M1167 –  Expanded Capacity TOW Carrier:

The HUMVEE® is a staple of modern militaries. The light armored utility vehicles are versatile and tough, well-suited for combat and humanitarian missions around the globe. Mounting a TOW missile system, the HUMVEE enables rapid deployment over rough ground of heavy and accurate firepower.

Developed in the 1960s, the TOW missile system’s rugged effectiveness keeps it in use by militaries around the world today. The Tube launched, Optically tracked, Wire guided system is not a fire-and-forget weapon; instead, as the missile travels at 600 mph, the operator keeps the launcher’s cross-hairs aimed at the target and course-correction information is relayed to the missile’s integral flight controls. While the resulting precision makes it a valuable weapon against armored vehicles, the TOW missile’s penetrative power also makes it a useful tool against fortified positions. Used offensively and defensively, the TOW missile system can be deployed on a tripod or mounted on vehicles, armored fighting vehicles, and helicopters. It has performed ably around the world, including Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine.
