Supplying troops in the field with fresh drinking water has always monumental task for any Army on the go. In World War II the US military used a number of trailers for this purpose, the most common being the G-527 "Ben Hur" trailer, named after one of the main manufacturers. The G527 1 ton trailer was capable of carrying 250 gallons of water and often had a hand pump for dispensing. the G-527 would be towed by any 3/4 ton or larger vehicle
