About the Canvas Bed Cover - Pack for 2 1/2 Ton Cargo Truck:

In 1943, the canvas bed cover or “soft top” replaced the hard metal covers on the Deuce and a Half. The canvas cover allowed more trucks to be shipped via naval convoys and reduced the overall weight of the vehicle. This also allowed for easy installation and removal of the cover, as the 2 1/2 Ton Cargo Truck was commonly fitted with specialization attachments.
