The Bell™ Boeing™ V-22 Osprey™ is the world’s first production tiltrotor aircraft with Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing (V/STOL) capabilities. Unlike any aircraft before it, the V-22 successfully blends the vertical flight capabilities of helicopters with the speed, range, altitude, and endurance of fixed-wing transports. The versatility of the Osprey™ allows it to be deployed in several different roles including Carrier Strike Group Carrier and Vertical On-board Delivery (COD/VOD), Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Response, Amphibious Assault, Special Operations, Personnel Recovery and Medical Evacuation missions.

On first look, the Osprey™ may seem like something from one’s imagination. The wide body, wings, and giant rotors make for a unique look and highly versatile aircraft. Often deployed on US Navy amphibious assault ships, the Osprey™ is most used for delivering military personnel and equipment from ships to shore. In addition to a crew of three, the Osprey™ can transport twenty-four troops or up to 20,000 lbs. of internal cargo. These capabilities have been useful in places like Iraq and Afghanistan where runways are unavailable and mobility over long distances is key to the mission.

Rotating nacelles on each end of the wing house the signature rotors that rotate in tandem in opposite directions, just like the real Osprey®. The entire wing and rotor apparatus collapses for carrier stowage. The model also features moveable flaperons, rudders, and elevators, along with retractable landing gear. Two pilot minifigures, custom-printed elements, and a high-quality sticker sheet are also featured with the kit.
