The Bell™ Boeing™ CV-22 Osprey™ is a tilt-rotor aircraft that uniquely blends the vertical takeoff and hovering of a helicopter with the long-range efficiency of a turboprop plane. The Osprey™ is used by various branches of the United States military, but the specific version depicted in this instance is utilized by the United States Air Force. The USAF’s mission for the CV-22 Osprey™ is to conduct long-range infiltration, exfiltration, and resupply missions for special operations forces. The Osprey™ is a dedicated special operations version of the United States Marine Corps MV-22.

The CV-22 was first delivered to Air Force Special Operations Command in 2007 with a total of fifty-four scheduled to be delivered. The Osprey™ can carry twenty-four personnel seated and up to an additional eight floor loaded. The CV-22 has an internal cargo rating of 10,000 lbs, so any additional equipment or vehicles that special operations units may need can be added. A .50 caliber machine gun can be mounted to the ramp to offer added security protection. The Osprey™ uses the latest in navigation, including FLIR sensors, terrain following radar, and threat countermeasures. The Osprey™ is a revolutionary aircraft that fills a focused need in the United States Air Force.
