About the 37mm Gun M3 – WWII American Anti-Tank Gun:

The M3 37mm was the United States’ primary anti-tank gun at the beginning of the Second World War. Small and versatile, it could be maneuvered by infantry and pulled by jeeps and could fire both anti-tank and anti-personnel rounds. The gun was effective in the Pacific Theater, where it faced thinly armored Japanese tanks. However, American forces in North Africa quickly learned that the M3 37mm could not penetrate heavy German tanks. The gun remained in use in Sicily and mainland Italy, but gradually was replaced in the European Theater by larger guns.

The M3 37mm anti-tank gun was the United States’ first purpose-built anti-tank gun. A relatively simple gun, it featured a single-piece forged barrel, manual breech, and split-rail carriage without wheel springs. By the time production ceased in 1943, over 18 thousand M3 37mm anti-tanks guns were built.
