BRICKMANIA 231 M4A2 Sherman: US Marines Edition Designer: Daniel Siskind The Sherman tank was the most widely American tank of World War II and therefore the number one most requested Brickmania kit. This M4A2 is the "classic" Sherman configuration with a welded hull, original M4 small "bustle down" turret and 75mm main gun. The M4A2 also has the distinction of being the only deisel engined Sherman, produced mainly for export, but also favored by the US Marines for its reliability. This kit was specifically modeled after the vehicles of the 3rd Tank Battalion on Iwo Jima and therefore comes with USMC crew and decals. With a few modifications this kit can also be transformed into the M4A3's used by the 4th and 5th Tank Battalions on Iwo Jima. It is also the same configuration as many of the Allied tanks that landed at Normandy on D-Day.
This model is built using genuine Lego bricks, mainly of the newer dark gray olor on all exterior surfaces. The crew compartment includes ammunition storage bins plus the driver and radio operator poistions. The rear deck also opens to reveal the GM 6056 deisel engine. The M4 turret and main gun are fully traversable and there is also a M2 .50 cal. machine gun on an anti-aircraft mounton the tank commander's hatch. This kit does include three custom US Marine minifigs featuring professionally applied decals, designed by Fine Clonier, and a BrickArms custom molded weapons and helmets (for use when the crew is not inside the tank).
